AMA
Offers Schools as Relief Centers
AMA Education System (AMAES), in cooperation with AMA Foundation and GMA-7’s Kapuso Foundation, has launched AMA Tulong Sa Bayan to help victims of typhoon Ondoy. AMAES Chairman, Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V, and AMAES President & CEO Amable C. Aguiluz IX authorized the fielding out of teams to conduct medical missions, composed of volunteer doctors, nurses and students of AMA School of Medicine and St. Augustine School and College of Nursing. They also authorized converting temporarily all AMAES member schools (AMA University/College, AMA School of Medicine, St. Augustine School and College of Nursing, ABE International Business College, ACLC Computer Learning Center) to Tulong Centers and initiated a campaign to solicit donations. To ensure proper and timely distribution to the victims, AMAES is coordinating these efforts with GMA-7’s Kapuso Foundation.
Initially, a medical team is stationed at ASM East Rizal, Imelda Avenue, Cainta Rizal since Cainta was one of the places hardest hit by Ondoy. In the next couple of days, medical stations will also be put up in other areas in Cainta, Marikina and Pasig. The teams to be deployed are under the supervision of Darwin Dominguez, VP-COO of ASM and St. Augustine School and College of Nursing, assisted by his Area Directors, Noel Infante and Oscar de Chavez.
The other international AMA Universities in Bahrain, China and Jeddah have also volunteered to help. Donations in cash/check and in kind are most welcome and can be given directly to any of the 200 AMAES schools here and abroad. Donations can also be deposited directly to the account of AMA Foundation, Inc. For peso donations, you can deposit to SA 00203001556-3; for dollar donations to SA 003101004255. Both accounts’ swift code is UBPHPHMM and bank is Union Bank of the Philippines, Banawe Ave., Quezon City branch. You may also course your donations/pledges through the different school websites
